Men’s health depends on the proper functioning of testosterone and the industrial, unprocessed food, opiates and popular sodas has very unfavorable effects.
Testosterone levels naturally decrease as men age, but diet and exercise also plays a large role in how the body produces this important hormone.
- Carbonated drinks – reduce sperm count
Researchers found that men who drink a quart of soda have sperm counts that are 30% lower than their peers who don’t drink as much soda.
- Processed meats and bacon – reduce sperm count
Men who ate large quantities of bacon and deli meats had lower sperm counts. Meanwhile, men who ate more dark fish (salmon and tuna) had better sperm counts.
- Soy – reduces sperm count
Study has found that men who had the highest soy intake and the lowest sperm count only had a mean soy intake of half a serving.
- Sugar – lowers testosterone
Sugar intake is linked to leptin resistance and high leptin levels, are linked with lower testosterone levels and higher BMI.
- Refined grains – make you sleepy
Carb-heavy meals increase tryptophan, a hormone that makes people sleepy so it’s not recommended to pre-game your bedroom
- Alcohol – causing difficulties with erection
Alcohol influences the way blood moves around the penis, then can cause problem with the erection.
- Marijuana – temporarily lowers testosterone, potentially reduces sperm count and can cause erectile dysfunction
THC, the active component in marijuana, can potentially lower testosterone, according to several studies and also marijuana lowers sperm count by around a third. Higher doses of cannabis may be problematic, research has found that the prevalence of erectile dysfunction is three times as high for daily marijuana smokers compared to those who don’t use it at all.
